Teleseminars and Webinars…

Oh, Boy! My favorite guru is interviewing some other guy on a new teleseminar and I am exclusively invited for free! Because I am on his VIP list-!!! 90 minutes of pure content, guaranteed to increase my profits TEN TIMES! Tomorrow is the day I start making serious money online….. woo-hoo!

They apparently are counting on you to have these kinds of emotions when you get their VIP pre-notification early secret surprise ticket to the all-inclusive, nothing-held-back, first-of-it’s-kind, be-all/end-all teleseminar.

Have you called in early and gotten in on some of these? Have you been lucky enough to miss most of this noise so far? I really want you to understand something right here and right now:

These are long, drawn-out teaser type sales pitches for the big, “Buy My Product and all that we have discussed on this call tonight Can Happen For You!” sales bomb they are going to drop on you at the end of the call.

Every single time.

(Unless it is a free teleseminar about using a product you have already purchased.)

Okay, here is how it basically works:

The first ten minutes are filled with introductions of the host and the guest, why they are qualified to speak on the subject–

The next ten minutes are usually a general synopsis of what you will be learning on the call–
Then they “drill down” into the content of the call…. (I love that silly ‘marketing phrase…)
This is usually the host asking the guest about his successes and praising them,
The guest tells the story of how he/she went from nothing to owning a thriving business,
Learned a whole bunch of good strategies and tactics,
Then the guest gives some ‘amazing figures’ about how, just by using ‘x’ system, he/she was able to generate $27,455 in profits on a $17 product in just 11 hours,
(All the while the host is heaping praise and respect on the guest- after all, it is the host’s list on the call, and if his list trusts him enough to be on the call, he’s gotta work it hard enough to transfer that trust to the guest…. man, is sales ever a mind game!)
Followed by a couple of teaser strategy ideas that leave you wanting to know more……
Then a couple more partially explained tactics followed by the completely explained results…
Then the big wrapup by the host- “Boy, did we ever cover a lot! Thanks so much for sharing your exact strategies that helped you launch a seven figure business! Now, we have something special today ONLY for those folks on this call… you are not gonna see this bonus anywhere else- EVER! I have arranged with (guest) to practically GIVE you his/her exact blueprint to success! Do you want to tell them about it, (guest)?”

And off they go. The last ten minutes is just a hard sell for the system or program or product that the guest is pushing. And it is then that you finally realize that you have spent the last forty five minutes or an hour being presold to get you warmed up to the hard sell pitch you’re listening to now. Complete with all the standard hardsell tactics- sense of urgency (this special offer is only good until noon tomorrow), scarcity (Only going to make 100 available at this price),
hot-button triggers (triple your [x], [blank] like the masters, ‘I’ve done all the work’, just plug in and start earning, etc…), and a strong call to action (as soon as this call ends, head immediately to blahblah.com and use this coupon code- remember- only 100 available! Go NOW!!)

There are courses, programs, mentors, products, even teleseminars that GIVE you this formula as the best way to make money online. This industry is so blatant about the ‘make a fortune with teleseminars’ strategy that I can hardly believe this even works!!

Actually, I can tell you why this works: sadly, it is the willingness of the unscrupulous side of internet marketing to exploit you-
the hopeful…
the person who can see that thisinternet marketing thing could work….
the person that is looking for the right program/system/info….
the person that hasn’t been around long enough to have wasted 600 hours and $6000 on dead ends and outright scams.

Let me put you out of their reach, okay?

  1. Teleseminars are sales pitches. (Again, unless you have already purchased something and are getting some how-to from the seller.)
  2. Teleseminars are sales pitches. (Yep, I wrote it again.)
  3. When you are invited to join in on a special teleseminar featuring Ms. xyz as a special guest who will reveal everything there is to know about xyz’ing…. investigate Ms. xyz’s site. Go see what Ms. xyz is selling, and decide if it is even remotely relevant to your business At This Time.
  4. If it is not relevant to your business-building At This Time, take a pass.
  5. As always, watch out for the hype-filled, exaggerated push behind the invite- if they are working very hard to convince you you need this, you probably don’t.

Now, with all of that said, I must take a moment to tell you that:

Not all teleseminars are bad.

Just go in forewarned—  you will be hit with a sales pitch. And, you will rarely if ever get the entire picture as promised without having to open your wallet for the ‘key ingredient’ to make the promises real.
Please use the five Reality Checks listed above to  make sure it is worth your time. There are probably 5-20 teleseminars happening on any given night… get involved at your own risk-
And know what you expect to get before even printing out the access code.

Your time is one of your most valuable assets when starting a new business- don’t give it to just any old somebody with a good sales pitch. Good sales pitches are a dime a dozen… your long-term business success is priceless!

To your increasing focus!
