Change Your Thinking
Technorati Profile
Changing the way you think…
Changes the way you build your business.
Let me make that point clear by giving you a common example:
Let’s say that you say to me, "I only have one hour a day to
work on my business…an hour is just not enough time."
What is the result of that kind of thinking?
You slack off, maybe watch tv or talk on the phone
or (oh, no!) read your emails and surf the web….
Okay, what if you instead thought that an hour was a lot of time-
in fact, plenty of time to get some things done.
What if you went into this knowing you had an hour a day
and broke up all of your tasks into hour-sized chunks?
What is going to be the result of that kind of thinking?
What is going to happen to your outlook,
your energy, your motivation,
when you start COMPLETING those one-hour tasks?
Of Course!
You will become a business-building machine!
(in one hour increments…!)
See, here’s the thing-
what you believe: your habitual thinking,
your habitual responses,
is in control of how much you can achieve.
There are a ton of ‘foolproof’ strategies out there:
to get traffic- to build a list- to brand yourself–
But if you have a habitual nature that sabotages
your efforts, a way of thinking that keeps you convinced
that YOU can’t do it, or it only works for the big guys, etc…
Well, guess what?
When it comes down to
taking the action,
making the choice between
the strategy and your habits…..
your habits will win every time.
What I am trying to help you see is that
you can change your thinking.
And that is a goood thing.
In fact, if you have not gotten your business
off the ground
and turning a profit,
it might very well be
simply a matter of changing your thinking.
Think about it!
To your increasing focus!

Beginner Marketer’s Nightmare- Good Marketing?
"This is a nightmare….."
As a beginner internet marketer, just looking for some help online,
there is one problem that is unavoidable and veeery EXPENSIVE—
GOOD MARKETING.
Yep, the very thing you are seeking knowledge about is your biggest enemy.
How ironic is that?
The very skill you are trying to achieve is going to
work against you as you try to learn it.
This still just amazes me… (can you tell?)
You know what I’m talking about, don’t you?
That little tug you feel on your wallet…
on your ideas…
on your confidence:
"You Just Need To Do What I Did To Make Millions Online!"
(oh, yeah, and send me $297 for the info….)
Somehow, a good marketer can make you feel like
everything you are trying isn’t going to work without
the ’secret ingredient’ they are selling,
or maybe just ‘this last piece in the puzzle’
will be the thing to
PUT YOUR PROFITS ON AUTOPILOT!!!!!!
And, without hesitation, you:
a. pull out your credit card or log in to paypal
and prolong the nightmare of info overload, or
b. instantly begin to feel as though you are
missing something, incomplete, inadequate…
going to suffer in some way because you can’t
jump on this opportunity…
So what is the solution?
HOW do you end the nightmare????
Try this on for size…..
You wanna be a marketer, right?
You want to learn how to compel people
into buying your goods and services, right?
You want to master the art of persuasive sales copy….
STOP thinking and acting like a MARK and
START thinking and acting like a MARKETER.
Honestly. That’s the secret.
Years ago, when I was living in Los Angeles
and heavily pursuing a musical career, I worked for a bit as a waiter…
The restaurant was popular and trendy,
and frequented by entertainment professionals.
So many of the other employees would get caught up in
the ‘close encounter’ thinking–
(as in, "Oh my God! I am actually talking to David Letterman/Prince/whoever!!!")
Me– I just viewed them as my peers. I was an entertainer too.
They were simply a little farther along the journey than I,
but certainly no more talented or purposeful….
This helped me in a lot of ways:
1.) I kept my wits about me, and didn’t make
any emotionally impulsive decisions—
2.) I didn’t allow their success to intimidate me
or make me feel small, and
3.) I was not struck with the urge to give up
simply because they were where I wanted to be,
and seemed to have all the style, charisma, and sizzle working for them.
I was already seeing myself as a successful entertainer.
What I am suggesting to you
is that you see YOURSELF as a successful Marketer.
You might be a beginner marketer
or a ‘newbie’ marketer (yuk! I hate that term!),
But start thinking of yourself as a PEER in the marketing world.
Who knows? You may be one or two ideas or
strategies away from breaking out
and making good money online!
The BigDogs might have a head start on you,
but some time soon they might be approaching YOU
for some marketing help!
This IS how it happens.
The sooner you start thinking that you
already ARE a player in the marketing world,
The Sooner You Will BE ONE.
If you ARE a marketer, the first thing you will see
when you read a subject in an email line
or a headline on a sales page is
a good subject line.
Or a good headline.
Not a ‘must-have’ ebook or script-
not a "chance to finally make serious money"…
Rather, an opportunity to examine another marketer’s process/ message
and learn something.
Come on. Let’s be honest here…
There is one basic method to making money online.
No matter how it is packaged or rehashed
or broken down….
Find a niche…
get a domain name…
Find or create products or services to sell…
Get a webhost…
Put up a website…
Get an autoresponder…
Set up a squeeze/landing page…
Start getting traffic to it.
The End.
Once you understand this sequence of events,
you are done with the how-to-make-money-online thing.
If you have bought ONE book on getting this stuff set up,
you have enough.
Don’t buy anymore.
Everybody and their sister will try to sell you
their method on getting started.
Guess what…
They all did these same things.
There might be some slight variations,
but there is only one basic path to follow.
And, if you’ve been reading and studying and purchasing
any information at all,
you pretty much know what to do.
There will be tools and info and specific strategies
that will enhance your business at every step of this basic
business-building process, BUT-
Wait until you get to that step
before you even consider buying anything.
I urge you to shut out the noise as much as possible…
but when you do get marketed to, remember:
The best marketing messages are your best lessons.
Do as they do–
don’t just do what they tell you to do!

is online marketing for you?
If you are just beginning to wonder if there is a lot of money to be made on the internet, I can tell you this:
there is.
If you have been actively searching such things as online marketing, affiliate marketing, making money online, etc., then you have seen how huge and active this subject is.
AND- you have seen the overwhelming amount of hype, products, ‘deals’, clubs, membership sites, and so on that are out there trying to
collect your money.
Since it is such a lucrative field, everyone and their sister is trying to capitalize on it….
In a recent national survey, 77% of Americans stated that they want to work from home…
77 PERCENT!
Well, obviously, if we all worked from home the economy would crumble! Who would do the manufacturing, shipping, maintenance, cleaning and servicing of all the stuff we need to get by these days?
Fortunately, the marketing/sales industry online has some built-in qualifiers that weed out the wanna-bes from the true entrepreneurial types. (Although you might not think so, with all the get-rich-quick and we do all the work for you scams out there…)
SO— what are the qualifiers? Well, you see it thrown around a lot, but the biggest obstacle to running a successful online business is:
Do you have the entrepreneur mindset?
Meaning:
Can you be the boss?
Can you be the star employee?
At the same time?
Can you follow through with an idea start to finish?
Are you unafraid of failure?
Do you see failure as a way to improve?
Can you delegate responsibility? Can you organize, prioritize, systemize, and strategize?
These are some of the hard questions to look at when thinking of entering this field.
The other major qualifier is the ability to take action.
It is one thing to have the motivation, the desire, to start creating wealth for yourself, BUT- come on, everyone wants to be wealthy.
We all have that desire!
Can you take action?
Can you commit the time and focus to study what is necessary and do the hard, intense work you will need to do?
No matter what any ‘marketing guru’ or seminar or salesletter or website claims, there is a lot of work involved in online marketing.
(Why do you think there are so many ‘cheating’ software products being marketed- all the “[blank] creators”, “[blank] generators”, “[blank] automators”, etcetera….)
Instant riches, overnight wealth, Automatic profits- these are all good salescopy, but they simply aren’t real.
Like all of life, internet marketing works like this:
You get out what you put in.
I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.
It covers:
- The best blogging techniques.
- How to get traffic to your blog.
- How to turn your blog into money.
I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.
